Phosphate Chemicals
Luster-Fos BPS
A highly acidic liquid material designed to deliver a uniform, flat black finish on steel surfaces. Luster-On BPS is used exclusively as a system in conjunction with heavy zinc phosphate conversion coatings and a rust-preventive oil, where appearance, durability and corrosion protection are compulsory
Luster-Fos 1000
A powdered iron phosphate designed to clean and produce a pre-paint iron phosphate coating in one operation. The product utilizes a low-foam surfactant formulation making it especially suited for spray application. The coatings produced by Luster-Fos 1000 serve as an excellent paint base to greatly increase adhesion and corrosion resistance.
Luster-Fos 1410LF
A modern three-stage iron phosphate designed for mixed runs of steel, zinc and aluminum. Luster-Fos 1410LF cleans and produces an excellent pre-paint iron phosphate conversion coating with one operation. The product can be applied by spray or immersion.
Luster-Fos 1430
A powdered iron phosphate designed to be most economical with low-temperature operations. Luster- Fos 1430 simultaneously cleans and produces an iron phosphate conversion coating for steel surfaces.
Luster-Fos 3100
A liquid manganese phosphate material designed to establish heavyweight absorbent coatings on steel surfaces. The heavy coatings produced by Luster-Fos 3100 provide excellent solid lubrication characteristics for wearing and moving surfaces. Luster-Fos 3100 coatings may also be used as a porous base for liquid lubricants and will provide corrosion resistance in conjunction with oils. Luster-Fos 3100 may be applied with immersion-process applications.
Luster-Fos Rust Preventative Oil #1
A solvent-based water displacement material that forms thick corrosion resistant films on ferrous and non-ferrous metal surfaces. The product can be used for in-process protection or as a final finish for phosphate or black oxide coatings. Parts may be processed either wet or dry, and the resulting film delivers superior humidity and salt spray resistance. Since the film is dry and tack-free on phosphate coatings, parts treated with Luster-Fos Rust Preventative Oil #1 may be assembled easily without any sticking or sagging of the protective surface. Luster-Fos Rust Preventative Oil #1 is listed on the Ford Approved Source List for Specification ESE-M99P21-A Rust Preventative Coating. (IMDS # 126065291)
Luster-Fos RPO #123
A solvent-based water displacement material that delivers dry-to-touch corrosion resistant films on ferrous and non-ferrous metal surfaces. The product can be used for in-process protection or as a final phosphate or black oxide finish coating. Parts may be processed either wet or dry, and the resulting film shows good humidity and salt spray resistance. Since the film is dry and tack-free on most coatings, parts treated with Luster-Fos Rust Preventative Oil #123 may be assembled easily without any sticking or sagging of the protective film.
Luster-Fos RPO #245
A corrosion-inhibiting concentrate for water emulsifiable rust prevention treatments. This product has proven extremely effective for protecting steel surfaces against high-humidity indoor storage conditions. When used over phosphate coatings it delivers a slightly soft protective coating with superior salt spray characteristics. Thin films may be used to provide in-plant rust protection prior to subsequent operations and have been found effective in a final rinse to prevent flash rusting of the interior of tubular plated products during drying operations. The film produced not only protects the steel from flash rusting but enhances corrosion protection of plated finishes including chromated zinc.
Luster-Fos RPO #257
A corrosion-inhibiting concentrate for water emulsifiable rust prevention treatments. The product has proven extremely effective for protecting steel surfaces against high-humidity indoor storage conditions. When used over phosphate coatings, the product produces a dry, waxy protective coating with superior salt spray characteristics. Thin films may be used to provide in-plant rust protection prior to subsequent operations and have been found effective in a final rinse to prevent flash rusting of the interior of tubular plated products during drying operations. The film produced protects the steel from flash rusting and also enhances the corrosion protection of plated finishes including chromated zinc.
Luster-Fos 259A Torque Sealer
A water-emulsifiable oil designed to deliver a degree of lubricity on metric threaded fasteners meeting the Torque/Clamping requirements set forth in Ford Worldwide Standard WZ- 100.
Luster-Fos Seal
A trivalent chromate sealer for phosphate coatings. When applied as directed, this sealer provides corrosion resistance on zinc or iron phosphate coatings that are superior to existing hexavalent chromate sealers and is approved for military applications. Luster-Fos Seal may be used in applications requiring compliance with ELV, RoHS, and WEEE directives. Since Luster-Fos Seal does not contain any hexavalent chromium compounds, waste treatment for hexavalent chromium is not necessary.
Luster-Fos 900
A traditional chromic acid-based sealer for use after zinc, manganese or iron phosphate treatments. Luster-Fos Sealer 900 is added to a final rinse. The sealer greatly improves the corrosion resistance of processed parts. Proper use of Sealer 900 will meet the Chromic/Phosphoric Acid requirements of MIL-P-16232, Stage 4 Rinse.
Luster-Fos 940
An acid-based, non-chromate sealer for phosphate coatings. This sealer will greatly improve the corrosion resistance of zinc or iron phosphate coatings when used in a final rinse. Since it does not contain any chromium compounds, waste treatment for hexavalent chromium is not necessary.
Luster-Wax 12
A wax emulsion product designed to form a clear, dry lubricant film on metal surfaces. Luster-Wax 12 is applied in the final rinse and can easily be hot-air dried in existing drying equipment. The water-emulsifiable material is easily and safely diluted and applied to desired film thickness with immersion processes. Luster-Wax 12 contains an ultraviolet tracer dye that can be used with a fluorescent detector to confirm the presence of the wax film on treated parts.
Luster-Fos 2700
A five-stage liquid-immersion zinc phosphate material designed to establish heavyweight (1000 to 3000 mg/ft²) absorption coatings on steel surfaces. The heavy coatings produced by Luster-Fos 2700 provide excellent “soak-up” properties for supplemental coatings such as rust preventative oils or waxes. Luster-Fos 2700 can also be applied as a pre-paint treatment. Coating weights in the range of 300 to 600 mg/ft² are recommended to insure positive corrosion resistance and excellent paint adhesion.
Luster-Fos 2800
A five-stage liquid zinc phosphate material capable of delivering a fine- to heavy-grain crystal structure on steel, zinc, galvanized steel, cadmium plate and some aluminum alloys. Luster-Fos 2800 is designed for immersion or spray-washer applications for coating thickness, in the range of 1000 to 4500 mg/ft², dependent on needs. Coating weights produce fine-grained, tightly packed crystals that insure superior product appearance combined with long-lasting corrosion tolerance.
Luster-Fos 2900
A calcium-modified zinc liquid phosphate material delivering fine-grained coatings on steel surfaces. Luster-Fos 2900 is an exceptional tool for pre-paint treatment operations. Coating weights in the range of 300 – 600 mg/ft² are recommended to insure maximum corrosion resistance and excellent paint adhesion. Luster-Fos 2900 can also provide heavyweight coatings on steel in the range of 1,000 – 1,500 mg/ft². These coatings provide absorbent properties for supplemental treatments such as rust-preventative oils.
