Zinc Trivalent

Metasu YFB-ZA/ZB (Trivalent Black for Alkaline Zinc and Zinc/Iron)
Forms a hex-free, black conversion coating over zinc electrodeposits coming from an alkaline electrolyte. When properly sealed, the film has a bright, glossy black appearance resistant to staining, tarnishing and white corrosion products.

Metasu YFB-NAA/NBA (Trivalent Black for Chloride Zinc)
Forms a hex-free, black conversion coating on the surfaces of chloride zinc electrodeposits. When properly sealed, the film has a bright, glossy black appearance resistant to staining, tarnishing and white corrosion products.

Metasu CKN-11A/B (Trivalent Black for Zinc/Nickel Alloy)
Forms a hex-free, black conversion coating over zinc/nickel electrodeposits coming from an alkaline electrolyte. When properly sealed, the film has a bright, glossy black appearance resistant to staining, tarnishing and white corrosion products.

Luster-On Tri-Blue 2100 (IMDS 283833043 – up to 96hrs NSS to WC)
A hexavalent chromium-free liquid product used to provide a highly corrosion-resistant blue-bright conversion coating on electroplated zinc deposits. The material will also generate a corrosion-resistant clear film over cadmium plated surfaces.

Luster-On Tri-Blue 800 Plus (up to 72hrs NSS to WC)
A single-dip trivalent chromate for zinc plated surfaces. It is a liquid concentrate which provides a bright, passivated finish with a blue tint. Luster-On Tri-Blue 800 Plus offers a long operating life. Its unique design makes it suitable for acid chloride, alkaline or cyanide plated zinc.

Luster-On Tri-Blue 700 (up to 24hrs NSS to WC)
An economical single-dip trivalent chromate for zinc plated surfaces. It is a liquid concentrate providing a bright, passivated finish with a blue tint. Luster-On Tri-Blue 700 offers a long operating life. Its unique design makes it suitable for acid chloride, alkaline or cyanide plated zinc.

Luster-On Tridescent (up to 120hr plus NSS to WC)
A uniquely formulated trivalent chromium-based single-dip chromate for zinc. The film has extraordinary corrosion protection exceeding specifications for iridescent yellow processes, including ASTM B-633, Type II. It is approved for use to comply with the requirements of GMW 3044. Luster-On Tridescent will meet or exceed automotive requirements for the European Community ELV initiative. The steady state chemistry assures repeatable and uniform greenish, slightly iridescent coatings throughout the chromate’s long lifetime. Luster-On Tridescent is also an effective passivate for mechanical zinc.

Aluminum Trivalent

Luster-On Aluminescent (IMDS # 61734993 – 168 hrs. plus)
A powdered product used to form a hexavalent chromium-free conversion coating on aluminum surfaces. The process provides excellent corrosion protection at low cost and forms a base for paint, lacquer or rubber bonding. The coating can be applied by dip, spray, brush, swab or roll coating, requiring no electric current, cooling or exhaust. Luster-On Aluminescent yields clear, slightly iridescent films while forming a protective surface with low electrical resistance. Luster-On Aluminescent is suitable for both wrought and cast aluminum alloys and is designed for ease of operation with minimum process controls required. Conversion coatings generated by Luster-On Aluminescent are compliant with European RoHS, WEEE, ELV and REACH directives and meets or exceeds the requirements of MIL-DTL-5541F, Type II, Class 1A and Class 3. The product is listed on the Qualified Products List (QPL) under MIL-DTL-81706C for application under MIL-DTL-5541.

Luster-On Aluminescent LQ
This is the liquid version of Luster-On Aluminescent and is approved under MIL-DTL-81706B for MIL-DTL-5541F application. Luster-On Aluminescent LQ is used where the handling of powders is a concern and/or automatic chemical feed systems are employed.

Luster-On Aluminescent TX
This is a thixotropic version of the Luster-On Aluminescent used for touch-up applications.

Luster-On Aluminescent
A product used to form a conversion coating on aluminum surfaces without the use of hexavalent chromium. Luster-On Aluminescent is a replacement for yellow or clear hexavalent chromates providing excellent corrosion protection at low cost and forms a base for paint, lacquer, or rubber bonding. The chromate can be applied by dip, spray, brush, swab, or roll coating, requiring no electric current, cooling or exhaust. Luster-On Aluminescent yields clear, slightly iridescent films while forming a protective surface with lower electrical resistance than anodizing. Luster-On Aluminescent is suitable for both wrought and cast aluminum alloys and is designed for ease of operation with minimal process controls required.

Alloy

Luster-On TZT
A powdered product used to form a chromate conversion coating on tin-zinc alloys without hexavalent chromium. The process provides excellent corrosion protection at low cost and forms a base for paint. The chromate can be applied by immersion or spray, requiring no electric current, cooling or exhaust. Luster-On TZT yields clear, slightly iridescent films while forming a protective surface. Luster-On TZT is suitable for varying tin-zinc alloys with ease of operation and with minimal process controls required.

Luster-On Tridescent
A uniquely-formulated trivalent chromium-based single-dip chromate for zinc. The film has extraordinary corrosion protection exceeding specifications for iridescent yellow processes, including ASTM B-633, Type II. The product is approved for use to comply with the requirements of GMW 3044. Luster-On Tridescent will meet or exceed automotive requirements for the European Community ELV initiative. Luster-On TZN
An economical high-performance single-dip trivalent chromate for zinc-nickel plated surfaces. When used within specified parameters, Luster-On TZN offers extensive corrosion protection to white corrosion products. It is a two-part liquid concentrate delivering either a clear, bright passivated finish or a bluish tint. Luster-On TZN also offers a long operating life and uniquely enables passivation of all chloride and alkaline zinc-nickel plated surfaces with a nickel content in the 8 – 17% range.

Luster-On Tri Blue ZN
An economical high-performance single-dip trivalent chromate for zinc-nickel plated surfaces. Luster-On Tri Blue ZN is a two-part liquid concentrate, providing a blue-bright, passivated finish with extensive corrosion protection for white corrosion products. The product also offers a long operating life and enables passivation of all chloride, and alkaline zinc-nickel plated surfaces with a nickel content in the 8 – 17% range.

Copper Trivalent, Silver Trivalent

Luster-On Passivator SC
A liquid product used to produce a non-hexavalent coating on silver, copper and copper alloy surfaces. The Luster-On Passivator SC process delivers excellent resistance for sulfur atmospheres. Luster-On Passivator SC forms a protective surface with anti-tarnish protection equivalent to traditional hexavalent chromium passivating processes. Coatings generated by Luster-On Passivator SC are compliant with European RoHS, WEEE and ELV requirements. The product may be used with or without electric current.

Luster-On Passivator SC
A liquid product used to produce a non-hexavalent coating on silver, copper and copper alloy surfaces. The Luster-On Passivator SC process delivers excellent resistance to sulfur atmospheres. Luster-On Passivator SC forms a protective surface with anti-tarnish protection equivalent to traditional hexavalent chromium passivating processes. Coatings generated by Luster-On Passivator SC are compliant with European RoHS, WEEE, and ELV requirements. The product may be used with or without current.

Hexavalent

Luster-On 18 & 19
A two-part liquid chromate product forming a lustrous black surface on zinc and cadmium plate. Luster-On 18 & 19 is a single-dip process operated at room temperature. The coating produced resists staining, tarnishing and white corrosion products

Luster-On 224L
A liquid material producing a chromate conversion coating on aluminum and aluminum alloys. The product is suitable for both wrought and cast aluminum alloys. Spray or immersion applications produce clear or yellow coatings with excellent corrosion protection at an economical cost. The Luster-On 224L solution can be rejuvenated by eliminating contaminants. Luster-On 224L has met the requirements for listing on the Qualified Products List under MIL-C-81706 for MIL-C-5541 Type I, Class 1A application.

Luster-On 55-L
A liquid chromate conversion material for cadmium producing a bright clear finish. It also passivates and protects cadmium plated surfaces. Luster-On 55-L is a single-dip product that does not require a leach.

Luster-On Utility K – 50
An easy-to-use, concentrated liquid product producing a bright, attractive, iridescent chromate conversion coating for zinc, cadmium plate and zinc-based die castings. The corrosion-resistance film delivered exceeds the standard salt spray requirements for zinc and cadmium plated surfaces. Clear bright films can also be formed when used with a leach back.

Luster-On Cobra C
A liquid chromate producing bright attractive surfaces on brass or copper in a single-dip operation. It is particularly attractive because of its non-fuming characteristics and its exceptional shelf life of treated products.

Luster-On Powder NS
A chromate conversion coating for copper and copper alloys. It is used to prevent “spotting out” and to retard tarnishing. The material can be used on buffed-copper or brass surfaces and thin electroplated brass and copper deposits without destroying luster.

Luster-On 80
A powdered product used to produce a clear chromate film on galvanized surfaces for resistance to staining, discoloration and corrosion.

Luster-On Sealer 505
A combination chromate conversion coating and organic polymer that dries to produce a clear, protective film on zinc galvanized and zinc electroplated surfaces. This product is ideal for protection in continuous-strip applications. The hard film produced by Luster-On Sealer 505 provides improved corrosion and abrasion resistance. This material is a dry-on chromate product which results in several advantages, including no need to treat chrome rinses.

Luster-On Utility TZY
A liquid product that forms uniform adherent chromate conversion coatings on tin-zinc alloy plated surfaces. Luster-On Utility TZY is suited to chromate deposits with a ratio of at least 75:25. Passivating the surface provides resistance to staining, tarnishing and white corrosion products. Surfaces treated can be freely handled during assembly or packing without fingerprinting or staining. The yellow iridescent film delivered meets or exceeds the requirements for automotive and military applications. The product produces an even chromate film over both high and low current density areas. Laboratory testing indicates over 100 hours to first sign of white corrosion. Films can be expected over a minimum thickness of 0.0003”.

Luster-On 64M
An economical chromate conversion material for zinc-based die-castings (especially Zamak #3). Surfaces can be chemically polished to a bright blue finish. A protective film is also formed to passivate and retard the formation of white corrosion products. Luster-On 64M can also be used as a preparation of base metal before plating.

Luster-On 65
A liquid chromate material for polishing and passivating zinc-based die-castings (especially Zamak #5). It may be used as a final finish to prevent the formation of white corrosion products.

Luster-On Z-N 100
This concentrated liquid material produces a yellow chromate film on zinc/nickel plated surfaces (when diluted with water). Depending on the concentration, the color of the film will range from pale yellow to bronze. Properly prepared parts will meet all automotive specifications pertaining to corrosion resistant yellow chromate for zinc/nickel alloy surfaces.

Luster-On 260A
A concentrated liquid product that brightens and passivates zinc plated parts. This single-dip type chromate produces a distinct bluish hue. The chromate offers extremely economical make-up and operating cost and is recommended for automatic installations for uniformity and ease of control.

Luster-On 63
A single-component liquid chromate producing a green olive drab conversion coating on zinc plated surfaces and die-castings. The film exhibits outstanding corrosion resistance and can be used as the final finish to passivate and prevent the formation of white corrosion products. The film can also be used as an excellent base for subsequent painting operations. The film produced by Luster-On 63 is also receptive to dyes and water emulsifiable lacquers.

Luster-On 66A & 66B
A two-part liquid chromate producing a heavy deep olive drab coating on zinc or cadmium plate and zinc die-castings. This coating provides maximum protection for the treated surface.

Luster-On Utility K – 50
An easy-to-use concentrated liquid product producing a bright attractive, iridescent chromate conversion coating on zinc or cadmium plate and zinc-based die-castings. The corrosion resistance exceeds the standard salt spray requirements for zinc and cadmium plated surfaces. Clear bright films can also be formed when used with a leach back.

Sealers

Luster-On Chromate Plus
A water-soluble product, that when applied over yellow chromated surfaces, increases the strength and corrosion resistance of the yellow chromate film. Its unique chemistry hardens chromate films, resulting in greater adhesion to zinc surfaces. Parts may be processed in barrels or baskets with a reduction in scratches and wipe-off. The product is excellent for use on fasteners and sharp-edged parts. Luster-On Chromate Plus provides increased uniformity and reduction in iridescence on rack work. Parts may be handled before drying without damage to the chromate film. The product is suitable for use in either automatic or manual systems. Luster-On Chromate Plus functions best when used in the final rinse; subsequent rinsing may lessen effectiveness.

Luster-Lac 404
An aqueous polymeric emulsion designed to form a clear, protective film on metal surfaces. It is particularly well suited to the need for increased corrosion protection over chromate zinc plated surfaces. Luster-Lac 404 dries to a hard, thin, water-insoluble barrier providing salt spray and abrasion resistance. Salt spray tests show that over 100 hours to white corrosion can be achieved with Luster-Lac 404 and a blue bright chromate and over 500 hours to corrosion with 404 and a yellow iridescent chromate. Luster-Lac 404 is applied in the final rinse and can be dried at temperatures up to 400°F. The product provides an economical answer for greater corrosion protection on both plated and unplated surfaces. Luster-Lac 404 provides similar protection over brass or other metals when a chromate film is not present.

Luster-Lac FS
An aqueous acrylic emulsion product forming a clear, protective film on metal surfaces. It is particularly suited for increasing corrosion protection over chromated zinc plated surfaces. Luster-Lac FS dries to a hard, thin, water-insoluble barrier providing salt spray and abrasion resistance. Luster-Lac FS is applied in final rinse and can be dried using standard drying equipment. It provides an economical answer to the need for greater corrosion protection on plated and bare surfaces.

Luster-On Sealer 95/Torque Sealer 100 System
Designed for use over Luster-On Tridescent trivalent chromate on fasteners to meet the specific torque and corrosion requirements for threaded fasteners of GMW 3044-G. The system may be used over alkaline non-cyanide, cyanide, chloride and mechanical zinc plated surfaces. When used as a complete system over Luster-On Tridescent, it will meet the torque tension, coefficient of friction and ELV requirements in the automotive industry.

Luster-On Sealer 90C
A water-soluble product that, when applied over chromated zinc plate, enhances corrosion resistance. At lesser concentrations, Luster-On Sealer 90C has little effect on the color of the finish. At higher concentrations, the product may reduce the iridescence of a yellow chromate and limit the bluish hue of clear chromate. Both rack and barrel work can be processed through Luster-On Sealer 90C in either automatic or manual systems. Luster-On Sealer 90C is best applied in the final hot-water rinse.

Luster-Wax 12
A wax emulsion product forming a clear, dry lubricant film on metal surfaces. Luster-Wax 12 is applied in final rinse and can easily be hot-air dried in existing dryers. The water-emulsifiable material is easily and safely diluted and applied to desired film thickness by immersion. Luster-Wax 12 contains an ultraviolet tracer dye that can be used to detect and confirm the presence of the wax film on the parts.

Metasu CR-U/I
A finish coat applied over barrel plated zinc and zinc alloy plated parts after processed in a Metasu Trivalent Black chromate. The coating provides superior corrosion protection and adds gloss to the finish.

Metasu CR-U/R
A finish coat applied over rack plated zinc and zinc alloy plated parts after processed in a Metasu Trivalent Black chromate. The coating provides superior corrosion protection and adds gloss to the finish.
